Her connection to the Maasai community began through a chance meeting with children in the bush — an encounter that eventually led to the creation of Moyo Primary School.

Through Breathwork Safari retreats, she now shares the practices and experiences that helped her reconnect with life and purpose.

A Retreat That Gives Back

This retreat is also part of something meaningful.

Each retreat supports Moyo Primary School, a school I built together with the Maasai community in the remote bush of Amboseli. The school provides education for children who would otherwise have very limited access to schooling.

  • Right now, we are working toward an important new project: building a large rainwater dam.

This will collect rainwater during the wet seasons and help provide water for the school and the families of the children who live nearby. In this dry landscape, access to water changes daily life in profound ways.

By joining this retreat, you are not only giving yourself time to breathe, reconnect, and reset — you are also directly supporting the children, their families, and the future of the community.

Your journey becomes part of a larger story of education, resilience, and hope in the bush of Amboseli.

This is travel with purpose, where transformation happens not only within you, but also in the lives of others.

The Story behind Moyo Primary School

I first came to Amboseli as a visitor on safari. Like many people who travel through the area, I was amazed by the beauty of the landscape, the wildlife, and the rich Maasai culture. But during that visit, I also experienced something that stayed with me long after I left …

  • In the bush near Amboseli, I met a small group of Maasai children who were sitting on the ground under a tree trying to learn. There were fourteen children and two local Maasai women who had taken it upon themselves to teach them as volunteers. They had no classroom, no desks, no books, and no school supplies at all.

I was told that this was the only schooling the children would receive. They could sit under the tree and learn like this until they were about five years old. After that, there was no school for them to continue their education.

Seeing this deeply affected me. The children were curious, eager, and excited to learn, yet there were almost no opportunities for education in this remote area of the bush.

I began supporting the small initiative the women had started. What began as a simple effort to help a few children sitting under a tree slowly grew into something much bigger. During the pandemic in 2020, I started a small fundraising effort through Facebook with the goal of building a proper school in the bush so the children could continue learning.

With the support of private donors and the strong involvement of the Maasai community, we were able to build Moyo Primary School in Olgulului, Amboseli.

Today, the school has grown to serve around 100 Maasai children living in the remote bush. The school follows the Kenyan curriculum and is run by Maasai staff from the local community. For many of the students, this is the first time in their families that children have the opportunity to attend a proper primary school.

The school is supported mainly through private donations, together with the dedication and involvement of the Maasai community who run the school.

What began as fourteen children sitting on the ground under a tree has grown into a thriving primary school, providing education, daily meals, and opportunity for a new generation of children in an area where access to education has traditionally been very limited.
